Thailand – Phatthalung Southern Estate

CHUMPHON COLLECTIVE:

Working closely with Chok Petchdang, cacao producer and owner of Chumphon Collective Phatthalung Southern Estate, we identified key challenges and opportunities: beginning with the need to better showcase his work, its people and his cacao farming community. We started by listening to Chok and his community to understand their vision, values and values and what they see for the future of cacao in Thailand.

Chok Petchdang is a cacao farmer and a community leader to more than 500 cacao farmers in Southern Thailand in the Phatthalung provinces and neighbouring cacao farming communities. Chok is deeply passionate about cacao, committed to continual learning, and generous in sharing his knowledge. Humble by nature, he works behind the scenes, allowing others to take credit if it helps secure stable income for his cacao farming community.

SOCIAL IMPACT:

The estate employs total of 25-30 full, part-time, and seasonal workers

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The Phatthalung Southern Estate offers community programs including chocolate and cacao tours, as well as art and craft classes for the children of farmers, workers, and the wider community, with meals, snacks, juice, and water provided at no cost.
